Institutional Capital Flows Against Bitcoin’s Price Dip

Despite a recent downturn in Bitcoin’s price, institutional investors demonstrated renewed interest, with U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) experiencing significant net inflows on October 19. The ETFs collectively recorded $526.6 million in net inflows, marking the largest single-day influx since September 22. This surge occurred as Bitcoin’s price had softened by approximately 2% over the preceding week, trading near or below the $81,500 level.

BlackRock Leads Inflows Amidst Mixed Fund Performance

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, identified by the ticker IBIT, was a major driver of the day’s inflows, attracting $665.2 million on its own. This represented IBIT’s largest single-day inflow since October 7, 2025. The substantial figure for IBIT alone surpassed the total net inflow for the day, a result of outflows from other prominent funds. Fidelity’s FBTC saw net outflows of $83.6 million, while Grayscale’s GBTC experienced outflows totaling $54.9 million. All other Bitcoin ETFs in the market registered no net flows on the same day.

ETFs Still Lagging Month-to-Date Despite Inflow Surge

Notwithstanding the robust single-day performance, Bitcoin ETFs remained down approximately $90.5 million month-to-date for October as of the 19th. The total assets managed across all Bitcoin ETFs currently stand at roughly $105.46 billion, accounting for approximately 6.4% of Bitcoin’s overall market capitalization. Since their launch in January 2024, Bitcoin ETFs have collectively amassed over $57.4 billion in cumulative net inflows.

Ether ETFs Continue Outflow Trend

In contrast to Bitcoin ETFs, Ether ETFs recorded outflows of $103.3 million on October 19, extending a trend of net withdrawals to four consecutive days.
