Institutional Momentum Fails to Lift XRP as Key Developments Unfold

New York, NY – A week marked by significant institutional advancements for Ripple and its native cryptocurrency, XRP, saw a highly anticipated Nasdaq debut and expanded stablecoin access, yet failed to translate into gains for the digital asset itself.

Standard Chartered Expands RLUSD Custody and Trading Potential

Banking giant Standard Chartered announced on October 12 its launch of institutional custody services for Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, on the XRP Ledger. This service will be offered through its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) branch. Furthermore, the bank is collaborating with Ripple and LMAX Group on a potential arrangement that could see RLUSD utilized as collateral for select institutional trading products.

Evernorth Holdings Lists on Nasdaq

Evernorth Holdings commenced trading on the Nasdaq stock exchange on the same day, under the ticker symbol XRPN. The stock opened around $16.70, briefly surged to $19.40, before closing the day just under $17. However, a broader market correction impacted its performance, with the stock ending the week at $15.45 on Friday.

Evernorth entered the public markets with approximately 473 million XRP in its treasury and secured $300 million in gross cash proceeds. In the days following its Nasdaq debut, the company identified Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken, and BitGo as its initial institutional execution partners. This group is slated to assist in deploying Evernorth’s XRP treasury into institutional strategies beginning in the fourth quarter.

Ripple Prime Broadens Wall Street Reach

Ripple itself made a strategic move into Wall Street with the launch of 24/7 real-world asset perpetual swaps via its prime brokerage platform. This offering provides institutional clients with exposure to over 100 reference markets, encompassing equities, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), commodities, currencies, and other traditional asset classes.

Cross River Bank Integrates RLUSD and XRP Ledger

Cross River Bank announced on October 16 its intention to integrate RLUSD and XRP Ledger settlement capabilities into its banking infrastructure. This integration will enable eligible businesses to facilitate seamless transitions between U.S. dollars and RLUSD, process cross-border payments, and manage treasury transfers through a unified API.

XRP Price Struggles Amidst Market Volatility

Despite these substantial institutional developments, XRP has struggled to gain upward momentum. The digital asset faced rejection at the $1.40 mark earlier in the week, subsequently falling to $1.30. While it saw a rebound to $1.38, XRP experienced another downturn as the week progressed, reaching a monthly low of $1.27 during a flash crash on Saturday evening.

Analysts have identified potential bottoming signals for XRP. On October 16, Ali Martinez noted $1.25 as a possible buying zone and suggested upside levels between $1.42 and $1.60 if the token experiences a rebound.

EGRAG CRYPTO offered a more long-term perspective, suggesting that XRP’s price action around $1.30-$1.33 resembles previous prolonged bottoming formations. This bullish outlook anticipates a future breakout above $3.67, potentially leading to Fibonacci targets at $5.25, $6.33, $8.28, and a highly speculative $13.69.
