Robinhood Chain Dominates Post-Market Token Trading

Decentralized Exchanges See Majority of Stock Token Trading Outside Traditional Market Hours

Wall Street may close its doors at the end of the trading day, but activity on Robinhood Chain’s decentralized exchanges appears to continue unabated. Data from September 24 to October 23, 2026, reveals that 59% of trading volume for Stock Tokens on the network occurred outside of regular U.S. market hours. This includes a significant $532 million traded over weekends, when the New York Stock Exchange remains closed.

Over this approximately one-month period, Stock Tokens on Robinhood Chain collectively generated $3.68 billion in trading volume. Weekend activity alone accounted for 14% of this total.

Stock Tokens are ERC-20 tokens designed to provide holders with price exposure to U.S. stocks and ETFs. These tokens reside on a blockchain and are pegged to the performance of their underlying assets. While secondary trading on decentralized exchanges like Uniswap and Rialto operates 24/7, the creation of new tokens (minting) and the retirement of existing ones (burning) follow a more restricted schedule, typically Monday through Saturday.

As of October 12, 2026, the cumulative trading volume for Stock Tokens had reached $15 billion. These tokens had approximately 200,000 holders distributed across more than 120 countries.

Robinhood Chain, launched on July 1, 2026, is an Ethereum Layer 2 solution. This separate network processes transactions more affordably and swiftly before settling them on the main Ethereum blockchain, and it was specifically developed with tokenized assets in mind.

A crucial detail is that Stock Tokens are not accessible to U.S. residents. Consequently, the individuals trading tokenized U.S. equities around the clock are, by design, located outside the United States.

This distinction significantly reframes the “after-hours” trading figures. For traders in Asia or parts of Europe, standard U.S. market hours can fall during the middle of the night or late evening. A 24/7 trading venue, therefore, not only extends the trading day for these users but effectively shifts the market’s operational rhythm to their local time.

Nearly six out of every ten dollars traded in Stock Tokens occurred when traditional markets were closed.

The limitation on minting and burning to weekdays means that weekend trading is entirely dependent on the existing supply of tokens. When the underlying stock market is closed and no new tokens can be created on a Sunday, there is a potential for token prices to diverge from the eventual opening prices of the underlying shares.
