XRP Ledger Sees Surge in Tokenized Assets, Stablecoin Expansion, and Futures Activity
The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is experiencing significant growth in tokenized real-world assets (RWAs), with their value reportedly nearing $5 billion. This figure is part of an ambitious target to expand tenfold to $50 billion within the next year. Concurrently, Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, is set to launch on Coinbase, broadening access for both retail and institutional investors across XRP, Ethereum, and the Base network. While XRP futures trading volume has reached a seven-month high, increased trading activity does not automatically guarantee a price rally.
Ambitious Growth Targets for Tokenized Assets
David Schwartz, co-creator of the XRPL, has projected that tokenized RWAs on the network could grow tenfold over the next year, potentially reaching a market value of $50 billion. This ambitious goal follows a substantial expansion over the past 12 months, during which the market grew from approximately $180 million to its current $5 billion valuation.
The growing pipeline of tokenized assets includes significant institutional involvement. Aviva Investors has already launched a tokenized share class of its Sterling Liquidity Fund, valued at approximately £22 billion, on the XRPL. Additionally, Robinhood plans to utilize RLUSD for institutional settlement processes.
RLUSD Expansion to Coinbase
Ripple has announced that its RLUSD stablecoin will be integrated into Coinbase. This move is expected to enhance accessibility for both retail and institutional participants, extending across the XRP, Ethereum, and Base ecosystems. These developments are bolstering the network’s narrative around tokenization, though adoption figures alone do not dictate future price movements for XRP.
XRP’s Long-Term Chart and Technical Outlook
XRP’s long-term price chart continues to be a subject of considerable discussion. Since reaching a low of approximately $0.15 in 2020, the token has been trading within a broad ascending channel. After peaking around $3.50, XRP experienced a significant correction, falling to around $1.00 before recovering to approximately $1.33.
The lower boundary of this channel has remained intact, underscoring the relevance of its long-term structure for traders. Should support levels hold, potential resistance points are identified at $1.50 and $2.00, with a previous peak at $3.50. A more extended projection suggests a potential target of $5 around 2027, though this remains a technical possibility rather than a certainty. Sustaining reclaimed resistance levels and maintaining the broader channel are considered more critical than specific price targets.
Derivatives Market Activity Surges
Activity in XRP derivatives markets has seen a notable increase. Reported futures volume across major trading platforms in October reached its highest level in seven months, indicating heightened market participation. Binance led with $34.57 billion in XRP futures volume, followed by Bybit at $13.58 billion and OKX at $12.25 billion, collectively totaling approximately $60.4 billion.
However, high trading volumes can be interpreted in multiple ways, reflecting increased buying interest, aggressive selling, hedging strategies, speculation, or liquidations. Without sustained buying pressure, elevated trading activity does not automatically translate into higher prices.
Ultimately, XRP’s price trajectory will depend on whether network expansion and increased institutional access translate into sustained demand. The ambitious $50 billion tokenization target, the RLUSD rollout on Coinbase, and the rise in futures trading activity present several key developments to monitor. For the immediate future, $1.50 and $2.00 remain significant potential resistance levels, with $3.50 and the projected $5 region representing longer-term possibilities. While XRP possesses a compelling set of developments, the market still needs to confirm a sustained bullish trend.
