Bitmine Immersion Technologies Continues Ethereum Accumulation Amidst Market Resilience Debate

Bitmine Immersion Technologies has maintained its weekly Ethereum purchasing streak, acquiring an additional 8,573 ETH valued at approximately $19 million. Concurrently, Chairman Tom Lee has leveraged the recent, record-breaking Binance hack to argue that the cryptocurrency market has become more resilient, not more fragile.

The NYSE-listed company announced on Monday that its Ethereum holdings now total 6,060,506 ETH, a sum valued at roughly $13.7 billion based on a reference price of $2,261 per coin. This substantial holding represents 4.9% of Ethereum’s total circulating supply of 122.2 million tokens. By Bitmine’s own calculation, this places the company 99% of the way toward its stated objective of owning 5% of the network, a target it has branded the “Alchemy of 5%,” achieved in just 15 months. The firm has consistently purchased Ethereum every week since initiating its treasury strategy on June 30, 2025.

Market Reaction to Binance Hack Analyzed

A significant portion of Lee’s commentary centered on the approximately $6.4 billion theft from Binance last week, an incident the FBI has attributed to North Korea. While acknowledging the event as “a terrible development,” Lee contended that the market’s “relatively muted” reaction was “very constructive.”

Lee drew a comparison to a previous incident in February 2025, when hackers linked to North Korea’s Lazarus group siphoned $1.5 billion from Bybit. At that time, Ethereum experienced an 8% decline on the day of the breach and a 20% drop within a week. In contrast, following the Binance breach, ETH saw a mere 4% slide, despite the stolen amount being roughly four times larger.

Six Factors Driving Market Resilience

Lee outlined six key reasons for this subdued market response:

  • Binance’s Financial Capacity: Binance’s ability to fully cover all customer losses.
  • Absence of DeFi Cascades: Unlike the Bybit incident, there was no widespread failure of decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.
  • Swift Industry Intervention: Prompt action from the crypto industry effectively halved the potential loss.
  • Rapid Attribution: The FBI identified North Korea as the perpetrator within two days, a stark contrast to historical attributions that have taken months.
  • Nature of the Exploit: The breach was characterized as a “corporate infiltration” of Binance’s infrastructure, rather than a fundamental flaw in the blockchain itself.
  • Limited Price Downside: The contained price drop was interpreted by Lee as an indicator that “a crypto bull market is underway.”

Collectively, Lee stated, these factors demonstrate that the industry is “increasingly resilient and more capable of absorbing these nation-state assaults.”

Bitmine’s Diversified Holdings

Beyond its substantial Ethereum holdings, Bitmine’s total assets stood at $14.5 billion as of November 1. This includes 216 Bitcoin, $498 million in cash and marketable securities, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, and an $82 million position in Eightco Holdings. The company highlights Eightco Holdings as a rare public vehicle offering indirect exposure to OpenAI.

Bitmine continues to hold the distinction of being the world’s largest Ethereum treasury and the second-largest crypto treasury overall. It trails only Michael Saylor’s Strategy, which reportedly holds approximately 848,517 BTC. Strategy recently resumed its Bitcoin acquisition strategy with a $66 million purchase following a brief hiatus.

Staking Revenue and Future Outlook

Approximately 86% of Bitmine’s Ethereum holdings, totaling 5,227,037 ETH, are currently staked through its MAVAN platform. This staking activity is projected to generate annualized revenue of roughly $358 million.
