XRP Network Activity Surges Amidst Price Stagnation

The XRP network has experienced a notable uptick in growth, even as its price hovers near the $1.25 mark. Data from Santiment revealed that 7,934 new wallets were created on November 1st, marking the sixth-highest daily total for the year.

This surge is particularly significant given that Sundays typically see lower activity on cryptocurrency networks. The increase in new wallets follows a busy week for XRP and occurred shortly after the Binance hack, an event that may have prompted more users to adopt self-custody solutions and create new wallets. Santiment indicated that robust network growth suggests an improvement in usage, despite ongoing price pressure. The immediate price resistance stands at $1.25, with $1.30 serving as the initial level to confirm stronger upward momentum.

Should daily new-wallet growth remain above approximately 4,000 and XRP successfully reclaims the $1.30 level, the outlook would appear more constructive. Conversely, a decline below $1.20 coupled with growth under 3,000 new wallets would weaken this signal.

Recent reports from CryptoPotato highlighted a nearly threefold increase in XRP whale outflows from Binance compared to September 2022 levels. Such outflows could potentially alleviate near-term selling pressure.

XRP, along with other major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum, has been experiencing weakening market sentiment for nearly two months. The Binance hack further exacerbated this downturn. As prices have fallen and fear has permeated the market, bullish commentary has significantly diminished. Currently, XRP sees just 0.61 bullish comments for every bearish one, while Bitcoin’s ratio stands at approximately 0.69.

Ethereum is showing slightly more resilience with a ratio of around 1.14, though enthusiasm has also seen a sharp decline since September. These ratios offer a clearer indication of when retail traders exhibit unusual confidence or fear, and the current sentiment clearly points to widespread apprehension within the crypto community.

Santiment’s analysis suggests that periods of extreme negative sentiment have often presented the strongest contrarian opportunities once panic subsides. The community is still grappling with the fallout from what is considered crypto’s largest-ever hack, making the current situation particularly challenging. Nevertheless, if Bitcoin and XRP sentiment remains below 1.0 and prices stabilize without making new lows, a mid-term relief rally could potentially emerge.

The firm noted, “Extreme fear alone does not mark the exact bottom, but fear plus price stabilization has often been a much stronger signal.”
